Designing for Brain Surgery: Scaling Patient Support Through Crowdsourced Data

Neuro86: Crowdsourced Care for Long-Term Illness
To solve chronic patient isolation and fragmented care journeys in complex neuro-oncology, I led generative UX research for Neuro86, focusing on meningioma (the most common intracranial tumor).
Through digital ethnography of patient narratives and clinical quality-of-life literature reviews, I identified three core pain points: acute isolation, scattered information, and unaddressed pre/post-surgical ambiguities.
Translating these insights into product strategy, I prioritized peer connection as the primary user need, mapping a content architecture that bridges real-world patient sentiment with clinical data gaps.
I iteratively designed and stress-tested interaction models with engineering for backend feasibility, delivering a v1 experience where unstructured user stories dynamically surface peer journeys, localized clinical resources, and contextualized guidance.
